Around 06:00 on November 17, 2025, a pet Labrador Retriever (female, 8 years old, approx. 70 cm) was found dead outside its doghouse at a residence in Koike, Gojome Town, Akita Prefecture. The dog had bite marks on its left leg and an open abdomen; bear droppings were found nearby, and police suspect a bear attack.
