Around 07:00 on December 1, 2025, a man walking a dog sighted a single small bear, believed to be a cub, near the entrance of the Chubu Electric Power Grid Higashi-Shimizu substation in Hirose, Shimizu Ward, Shizuoka. A large amount of acorns was found nearby, and the city has posted warning signs and broadcast alerts to call for caution.
