On December 2 Tokamachi City carried out an emergency shooting authorized by the municipality and culled one bear that remained in brush near a residential area. Before 3 p.m. a sighting was reported of a bear in a persimmon tree in Nakajo, and local hunters, the police and city staff confirmed the animal in the brush and took action.
