At around 07:30 on November 7, 2025, a single bear about 1.5 meters long was found inside the first floor of the Namerikawa Onsen ryokan Fukushima-ya in Yonezawa, Yamagata. The inn's owning family of three were briefly trapped on the second floor but escaped via an emergency staircase; the bear was culled under an emergency shooting order by the city at around 11:50.

Around 07:30 on November 7, 2025, a bear about 1.2 meters long entered the Fukushimaya hot-spring inn in Osawa, Yonezawa (Yamagata Prefecture) via the crawlspace, remained on the first floor, ransacked a refrigerator and tore shoji screens. The inn's three family members escaped via an emergency staircase unharmed, and the bear was culled in an emergency shooting by hunters around 11:50.
