Encountered a bear while on my motorcycle. Because I was equipped with a very strong bear deterrent (odor), it wouldn’t come near and ran off at full speed. It ran downhill and to the right toward the back of Koshio Shrine. Without that equipment I would definitely have been attacked. The animal was large — about 1.3 m.
