On November 12 at about 07:15, a police officer spotted a bear about 70 cm long in a persimmon tree at Bandakadai, Shikado, Mitane. The bear was captured around 10:30. The location was about 50 meters from a nearby house and about 150 meters from Kotooka Junior High School; sightings had been reported repeatedly for three days.

A town office worker on patrol saw the bear up a persimmon tree; the animal was about 70 cm long and was roughly 30 meters from a nearby house and 100 meters from the school.
