A single cub about 50 cm long was sighted on the grounds of a private residence in Asahiterairi, Aizumisato Town on the evening of March 30 and the morning of March 31; officials set a box trap and captured it at 15:30 on March 31.

Around 17:40 on March 30, a single bear about 50 cm long was sighted on the grounds of a private residence in Asahiterairi, Aizumisato Town. When residents knocked on the window it fled toward a neighboring storehouse; the next morning (March 31) a similarly sized bear was found in nearby brush and police and town authorities are responding.
