On Saturday, June 13 at around 9:40 p.m., on National Route 118 in the Matsuyama area of Fukikisaku, Asakawa Town, a witness (male in his 40s) driving toward Asakawa observed one bear (approximately 1 m in body length) slowly crossing the national route from west to east. The bear then walked off toward the mountains.

On Thursday, June 11 at around 4:15 a.m., a witness (male in his 70s) at home saw through a window one animal believed to be a bear (about 50 cm in body length) running along a farm road in the area of Nakauchi-mukae, Some, Asakawa Town. The animal believed to be a bear later left toward the mountains.
