Around 13:00 on the 23rd, an adult bear about 85 cm long was seen near residences in Minamihara Sasanomachi, Yonezawa, and was observed up a persimmon tree. After it lingered and wandered near houses, the city ordered an emergency cull, and a hunter from the hunting association shot and killed the bear around 16:00.
