Kuroishi City reported that on March 25, 2026 an adult bear was sighted at around 20:45 in Chitose 1-chome (near the Chitose police box) and again at around 21:05 in Chitose 3-chome (near municipal housing), believed to be the same animal. The sightings occurred along the Asaseishi River near a large supermarket and restaurants; the bear was reported to have moved toward Higashi Park.
