In June 2025 a bear was confirmed on a town road in Takashiba, Daigo Town, the first sighting in the town in nine years; there were no injuries and no subsequent confirmed sightings. The town submitted a supplementary budget of ¥330,000 to prepare for emergency shooting measures, planning to procure protective shields, helmets, and bear spray and to create an operational manual.
