Around 7:50 PM on August 28, on Prefectural Route 151 near Kawai in Takyo-chō, Kitakata City, a witness (a man in his 50s) driving from Kitakata's Takyo-chō area toward Yamato-chō encountered one bear (about 1 m long) that darted out from the left side of the direction of travel; the bear then walked away.
