On 2026-04-12, an Asian black bear was sighted in Nishikami, Tsuyama City, Okayama Prefecture. The city used fireworks to drive it away and notified local neighborhood associations and nearby schools, advising people not to approach the sighting location, not to enter satoyama alone, to be especially careful from evening to early morning, to avoid leaving food outdoors, to use bells or radios to announce their presence, and to not provoke the bear but slowly move away if encountered.
