On January 30 in Kitashiobara Village, officials received reports of a small bear; a village staff member found a roughly 50 cm bear in a garage and attempted to drive it off but it did not leave. At 15:45 it was captured and euthanized using an emergency dart hunt. This was the second emergency dart hunt in Fukushima Prefecture.
