The bear that attacked a man in a park in Nishi-ku, Sapporo was identified by DNA from feces at the scene matching the euthanized animal, confirming it was the same individual: a 14-year-old female. She measured 1.5 meters and weighed 103 kg, was captured in a box trap and euthanized; the cub believed to have been with her is unaccounted for.
