Morioka City carried out its first bush-clearing operation on the Nakatsugawa riverbed as a bear countermeasure. About 700 meters between Yonoji Bridge and Shimo-no-hashi were cleared by ten municipal staff to reduce hiding spots and make bears easier to spot, following an adult bear sighting in October and multiple reports in late November to early December.
