A driver traveling from Lake Towada toward Hanawa sighted one bear about 60 cm long; on returning home, the bear remained, so the driver alerted a nearby company. Employees watched from inside the company; the bear crossed the company grounds, crossed the national road, and headed into the western mountains. The observer was about 30 meters from the nearest building.
