Kazuno’s most striking recent report came on April 28, 2026 at 10:30 in Kazuno, where a cub was standing on a rock in the middle of the Oyu River before walking toward the mountain on the opposite bank. Earlier that week, a bear was also reported beside Osarizawa on April 23, 2026 at 19:25, close to the national highway and near homes, showing that these animals are still turning up in places people travel and live.
The busiest ground has been around river corridors, roads, and the edges of residential areas in Kazuno, including Osarizawa, Shimonagane, Yokomichi, and Naganushi. Activity has been strongest in October 2025 with 307 reports and November 2025 with 142, then it eased through winter to 7 in December 2025, 2 in January 2026, and 4 in February 2026, with Kazuno logging 1,527 black bear sightings overall.
