Shortly after 08:00 on April 4, 2026, a female resident in Ootama Village, Ooyama, Fukushima Prefecture, sighted a bear about 1 meter long through her home window. The bear entered the woodland and disappeared from view; no damage to people or property has been confirmed and police are patrolling the area.

On Tuesday, March 31 at approximately 7:55 a.m., a witness (woman in her 30s) observed one bear (about 1 m in body length) walking from the location of the sighting toward the forest north of the rice field in Ooyama, Ikeshimo area, Otama Village.
