At around 10:40 on April 17, 2026, a resident in his 90s at Kawashiri, Kumayashiki, Mitane Town, Akita Prefecture, saw a bear about 1.5 meters long crossing a farm road. According to the Noshiro police, the nearest house was about 20 meters away; police patrols are monitoring the area by patrol car and advising residents to be cautious.
