At around 16:40 on December 10, one bear was sighted near Okuboyama, Nango Nakano, Hachinohe City (about 300 meters southwest of the Babaze bus stop, near National Route 340). No damage was reported.

Around 15:30 on the 5th, one black animal believed to be a bear was sighted south of Hachinohe Municipal Nangō Elementary School. Students in a classroom spotted it moving west to east on the slope between the schoolyard and Prefectural Route Nagawa–Hashikami Line; there were no injuries, and the school reported the sighting to the city and kept students inside.
