Shirakawa Medougorufu Kurabu

While working on the wood deck on my property, I heard something moving in the brush and saw the side profile of a bear walking southeast (about 20–30 m away). I quietly stepped down from the deck, but the bear, startled by the noise, turned and ran up toward the northwest and I saw its body.

On Saturday, July 4 at approximately 1:30 p.m., in the Shibakusachi area of Tarao, Ten'ei Village, a witness (female in her 70s) was in the living room on the first floor of her home when she observed a bear (about 1 meter in body length) in her yard.

On Sunday, June 21 at around 4:00 p.m., in the area of Shibakusa in Terao, Ten’ei Village, on the prefectural road, a witness driving on the road observed one bear (approximately 1 m in body length) that had been on the road enter the mountain forest to the south.

On Saturday, June 20 at about 10:50 a.m., in Shibakusachi area, Terao, Ten'ei Village, beside a village road, a witness traveling by car observed a bear (about 1 m in body length) on the road shoulder enter the forested area to the northeast. The witness reported the sighting to the Sukagawa Police Station on June 21.
