On Monday, June 15 at approximately 10:55 p.m., in the Hanamigaoka 1-chome area of Aizuwakamatsu City, a witness (male in his 50s) while at home observed one bear (about 1 m in body length) in a vacant lot on the south side of his residence. The bear ran off to the west; its subsequent whereabouts are unknown.

On May 14 (Thursday) at about 12:50 p.m., in the Hanamigaoka 1-chome area of Aizuwakamatsu City, a witness (male in his 70s) observed a bear (about 60 cm in body length) climbing on the fence on the east side of his home while he was at home. After being sighted, the bear climbed down from the fence and ran north; its subsequent whereabouts are unknown.

Around 17:30 on April 30, a man in Hanamigaoka, Aizuwakamatsu City, Fukushima Prefecture, sighted one bear about 50 cm long in the brush of a mountain forest. No damage has been confirmed in the area; the police are patrolling with patrol cars and coordinating with the Aizuwakamatsu City Hall to respond.
