Around 23:55 on May 14, an adult bear was sighted on a road east of Motomiya Children's Park in Motomiya 2-chome, Morioka. Police patrolled the area by patrol car and spotted the bear near the west side of Motomiya Elementary School, but it entered a residential area and its whereabouts became unknown; no damage has been reported.

On the morning of November 18, 2025, one bear entered the rooftop parking lot of the DCM Sennan store in Mukanakano 5-chome, Morioka City, and remained there for more than three hours. Around 11:00 a.m., a veterinarian administered an anesthetic dart and the immobilized bear was captured; no injuries were reported.

On the morning of the 18th, a single Asiatic black bear appeared in central Morioka. Around 06:10 it rammed the automatic doors of the Iwate Education Hall, then entered the rooftop parking of the DCM Sennan store in Mukanakano; it was immobilized with a tranquilizer dart about three hours later. There were no injuries or property damage; the bear was an adult male about 1.5 m long and the city intends to dispose of it.
