Around 18:00 on May 1, 2026, an approximately 50 cm long bear was seen in a rice field in Tatekizawa, Wakimotodayazawa, Oga City, Akita Prefecture by an elderly woman in her 80s living nearby. The bear was about 10 meters from a residence, and the Oga police warned local residents to be careful.

Spotted a bear about 1.5 m long near the Namihanasaki Tunnel entrance. It moved briefly to the southeast embankment, then turned back and disappeared into the bushes beside the west tunnel. About 10 m from the nearest building.
