Around 17:15 on the 17th, two animals believed to be a parent and cub (about 1.5 m and 80 cm long) were spotted on the riverside of the Hirose River at Reiyashita, Aoba Ward, Sendai, by passengers on a passing bus; both reportedly left heading south. There were no injuries, police patrolled the area and warned residents, and a later Sendai city investigation found they were likely wild boars.

Around 22:20 on the 13th, a resident of a nearby apartment spotted five bears on the riverbed of the Hirose River near Reiyabashi in Reiyashita, Aoba Ward, Sendai. Police said the body lengths were unknown, the five ran north along the riverbed, and no injuries were reported.

Around 19:30 on November 25, 2025, two bears about 1 meter long were sighted on the riverbed at Reiyashita, Aoba Ward, Sendai. They were seen on the right bank about 50 meters south of Hyoteigawara Bridge, headed south; a person in a parked car on the opposite bank called police.

Zuihoden (Zuihōden Mausoleum, Sendai), Miyagi

At around 22:40 on November 13, 2025, a security guard at Zuihoden spotted a single bear about 1 meter long climbing a tree on the grounds. The bear fled toward the west/Hirose River area when illuminated by a light; there were no injuries, and Zuihoden has closed the western portion of its grounds (about half of the roughly 10,000 m² site) until further notice.
