Akaiwa No Atama

At around 18:30 on May 18, a bear about 1 meter long was sighted in Urayama, Chichibu City, Saitama Prefecture. There were no injuries; a man who saw the bear contacted the Chichibu police station, and authorities are urging people to be cautious.

At around 13:50 on December 30, 2025, on the Ogawatani forest road in Nippara, Okutama (Tokyo), a hiker reported a body missing internal organs; police found a severely damaged body on the road. The Metropolitan Police suspect a possible animal attack and are investigating the identity and cause of death. Bears and serows have been sighted in the area.
