At around 20:10 on May 12, a single bear about 1 meter in length was sighted on a road in Osaki City, Tajiri (Oshio Godai Eito). The bear later entered rice paddies to the north, and police are patrolling the area and staying on alert.

Around 19:00 on November 25, a bear was reported sighted in the Ohara district (near Shiokaze Nursery) of Onagawa Town, Miyagi Prefecture, and the town posted a warning on official social media. The image attached to the post was later found to be AI-generated fake; it was viewed about 4.5 million times and the town corrected the post and removed the image by November 27.
