On Friday, June 26 at around 11:40 a.m., in forested land in Makabune Akirii area, Saigo Village, a man in his 50s, while working outdoors, sighted one bear (approximately 1 m in length) in the forest.

On Sunday, May 31 at around 9:20 a.m., in a forested area (Shimofutamata) of Yumoto, Tenei Village, a man in his 70s (Mr. A), a resident of Minamiaizu Town, was attacked by one bear and sustained injuries to the right side of his face and other areas. His injuries do not appear to be life-threatening.
