Takamori Yama

On Sunday, June 7 at about 6:05 p.m., in the Matsubara area of Torimiyama, Matsuyama Town, Kitakata City, a witness (woman in her 40s) was driving north on the prefectural road when she spotted one bear (about 50 cm in length) crossing the road from west to east. The bear ran off to the east and its subsequent whereabouts are unknown.

Around 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 13, in a storage shed area within Nobonobihara, Yoneoka, Neshiocho, Kitakata City, an observer (a man in his 60s) while snow removal work on his home premises found bear tracks, followed the tracks and witnessed one bear curled up and sleeping inside a storage shed on the north side of his home (about 1.5 meters in body length). Later, at 1:40 p.m., it was captured in a box trap.

A bear about 1 meter long was found hiding in a storage shed at a private house in Atsushio Kanomachi, Kitakata City, and was captured in a box trap about four hours after a report to the city. No injuries have been reported.
