On Tuesday, May 19 at around 10:00 a.m., on a municipal road in Oishi, Shimokawahara area, Aizumisato Town, a witness (male in his 20s) observed two bears believed to be a parent and cub (approximately 1 m and 50 cm) on the road while driving; they were later seen entering the forest.

While driving, the witness saw one bear (about 0.5 m in body length) climbing a tree at the edge of the mountain. When the witness shouted loudly, the bear fled into the mountain; its subsequent movements are unknown.
