On the morning of April 2, multiple bear sightings were reported in Akita City. At around 06:30 a 1.2-meter bear was seen on a road in Narayama Ishizuka-cho near houses. Additional sightings included a roughly 1.0-meter bear in a rice field in Yuwa Kamikamura around 07:00–07:30 and an approximately 80-cm bear near the Tegatayama water distribution facility the previous evening. The prefecture advises carrying noise-making devices such as bells.
