At around 08:10 on the 20th, an 89-year-old man, Mitsuo Kato of Arai 4-chome, Wakabayashi Ward, Sendai, was found with a head injury and declared dead by firefighters in a forest in Yoshida, Taiwa Town, Miyagi Prefecture. A bear was caught in a boar trap nearby; police suspect the man was attacked by the bear. The hunting association killed the bear at about 09:55.
