Around 13:00 on 2025-12-31, a single bear about 50 cm long entered and remained under the floor of a house in Takago, Kitakata City for about two hours; around 14:50 the city and police used fireworks and car horns to scare it away. On New Year's Day, two bears about 0.5 m long were also sighted in nearby Aizumisato Town; no human or property damage was reported in either case.
