On October 20, 2025 at about 06:20, a 65-year-old man was attacked at the entrance of a private house in Yuzawa City, Akita Prefecture, and a bear entered the house through an open door. The bear remained in the house and was trapped in a box trap set by city staff on October 25 at around 02:15; it was a male about 1.3 meters long and was culled. The interior of the house was heavily ransacked.
