Around 18:00 on February 11 a single bear about 50 cm long was found in the kitchen of a house in Takago-machi, Kitakata City; the resident evacuated. The city set a box trap and the bear was captured around 08:30 on February 12 with no injuries reported. On February 23 two bears (about 1 m and 0.5 m) were also sighted on a riverbed in Takago-machi Kawai.
