Osaka Prefecture announced that as of November 4 the number of Asiatic black bear sightings this fiscal year reached 19, the highest in the past five years. Sightings and signs such as droppings and tracks were found mainly in northern mountain areas including Toyono, Shimamoto and Takatsuki, and the prefecture urged measures such as carrying radios or bear bells, harvesting fruit, and removing unnecessary persimmon trees.
