At around 21:45 on February 25, 2026, a roughly 50 cm long bear was spotted on the grounds of a private residence in Ani-Mizunashi Ōmachi, Kitaakita City by a woman in her 40s who was at home. The Kitaakita Police warned residents and patrolled the area, noting an elementary/junior high school is about 400 meters away.
