On 2025-11-17 at around 21:00, a single bear about 1 meter long was spotted on the grounds of a private residence in Ni-ya Warisayamacho, Akita City; at about 21:15 another bear about 80 cm long was seen crossing a municipal road into the prefectural police mobile unit grounds in Ni-ya Kappeidai. Sightings were reported about 10 meters from a house and about 100 meters from Kappei Elementary School; Akita Central Police Station has warned residents to be cautious.
