A single female bear (about 110 cm long, 65 kg) that had been sighted around Yabase Onuma since the 21st was seen in a vacant lot in Akita City at about 11:30 on Nov 22. Prefectural staff anesthetized it with a blowdart and captured it; reports state it was subsequently killed using electric shock. Roads nearby were temporarily restricted; the scene was in a residential area just north of Yabase Elementary School.
