Ariake yama has just seen a black bear reported in Azumino on April 24, 2026, and that same day another sighting came from Ikeda Nakau; the Azumino area also had a fully grown bear, while Ikeda Nakau had a juvenile. Another Azumino sighting on April 16, 2026 and reports from April 15, 2026 at Azumino Kitahosono and Azumino 穂高北穂高 show the activity is still close to the ground people use every day.

Most of the pressure has centered on Azumino, with nearby Ikeda, Ōmachi, and Matsukawa also showing up in the record, and the busiest stretch came in June 2025 with 33 incidents, followed by October 2025 with 18 and November 2025 with 14. Across Ariake yama, there have been 185 black bear sightings overall, and the pattern stays active into winter and spring rather than fading away after one short burst.

Ikeda's gotten hit five times in less than a month, and three of those were within days of each other around November 8th and 12th. Maybe food sources shifted closer to that area this season.
