Hakusan’s most recent black bear incident came on April 27, 2026 in Butsushi Keno Town in Hakusan Bushiganomachi, where one black bear was reported on the mountainside behind Oyado Furari. Earlier in the same month, tracks were found on a farm road in Shimoyoshidani Town on April 16, and a bear was seen in the bushes along the prefectural road from Itao toward Fukiage in Hakusan Kawachimachi Itao on April 11.

The busiest places have been Kawaharayamamachi, Sannomiyamachi, Arukimachi, and the Oyanagimachi area, with reports turning up around shrine grounds, forest station property, bamboo groves, roadsides, and farm roads. Activity has been heaviest in June 2025 with 37 incidents, then October 2025 with 26, November 2025 with 18, and December 2025 with 8, while the area has logged 482 black bear sightings overall.
