At Aizuwakamatsu Castle, a black bear was seen on May 7, 2026 at about 14:40 in Aizuwakamatsu Higashiyamamachi Yumoto, where a man on a promenade in Kuroiwa, Motoda machi spotted one bear about 1 meter long walking south along the path. That came after another bear was seen on May 4, 2026 in the same area, when one was found up in a tree in Kuroiwa, Monden machi, and the local reports show bears are still moving through the wooded river and hillside edges around the castle city.
The busiest ground has been around Aizuwakamatsu, Inawashiro, Kitakata, and Aizumisato, with fresh sightings also coming from Koriyama.
