Iwami Ginzan World Heritage Center is watching the most recent black bear report from Oda City’s Oshirocho Oe, where on May 11, 2026 at around 10:00 a.m. one bear about 1 meter long was found in the precincts of Iwashimizu Hachimangu Shrine. On the same morning, another bear about 50 centimeters long was reported on a municipal road in Ooya, Ooshiro cho, Ota City, showing that bears were moving through both shrine grounds and roads in the same area.
The most active areas have been around Oda City, especially Oshirocho Oe, Minakamicho Fukuhara, Sanbecho Ikeda, and Omoricho, with other reports also coming from Kawamoto Town and Misato.
