Around 7:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 3, in Wariishi, Machinabasaka, Fukushima City, the caller (male in his 70s) discovered what appeared to be bear scat and reported it to the police. He provided the information to Fukushima City Hall, and when city officials responded to the scene with him and inspected the area, it was confirmed to be bear scat.

He was taken to a hospital in Fukushima City and his life is not in danger; his wife, who was nearby at the time, was not injured. The bear fled into the woods afterwards.
