Around 11:00 on December 22, 2025, a single bear about 1.2 m long entered and remained inside a transport company's warehouse on the premises of the public wholesale market in Sotoasahikawa, Akita City. The city set up a box trap and automatic cameras at the warehouse entrance and used a drone for checks; police are on alert but the bear has not been captured and there are no injuries.
