On Sunday, May 10 at approximately 7:13 p.m., on the downhill lanes of the Tohoku Expressway (Ban-etsu Expressway) near 107 kp in Shimokawamae area, Sarashina, Bandai Town, a passenger car driven by a man in his 40s, while traveling in the first lane of the downhill direction, collided with a bear (about 1 m in length) that crossed from the left side to the right side of his direction of travel. Subsequently, four following vehicles ran over the same bear.
