Around 02:30 on December 4, 2025, a married couple (male 75, female 70) delivering newspapers in Kawaramachi, Fuchu (Toyama City) were sequentially attacked by a single bear and sustained facial injuries; they were taken to hospital. Both were conscious on transport, the bear fled the scene and has not been found; city authorities, police and hunters conducted searches and warnings in the area.
