On the morning of May 13, 2026, multiple sightings of a bear-like animal were reported in a residential area of Sando, Saeki Ward, Hiroshima City; a black animal was captured on a security camera around 05:00. Ward staff and experts examined droppings and other traces, police and the ward conducted patrols and issued warnings, and one nearby elementary school closed temporarily; no injuries were reported.
