Around 06:30 on the 4th, on a road in Isawa Koyama, Oshu City, Iwate Prefecture, a woman tracking her missing dog's footprints in the snow was scratched in the face by a bear that suddenly appeared from beside the road. The woman walked about 100 meters back home, relatives called emergency services and she was transported; the dog later returned home safely. The bear has not been found.
